Summer is here which means wedding season and bridal showers are probably on your calendar of events. I recently attended my goddaughter’s bridal shower where it was asked of all the guest to wear white, which made it pretty easy for me to come up with my look.
The bridal shower I went to was at a small but intimate venue and it was held during the early part of the afternoon, so it didn’t call for anyone to be overly dressed up. I decided to wear pants and a top instead of a dress. The pants went just above my ankle and they had a flower print that I loved. They were cotton material with a little spandex, which came in handy after all the food and dessert I ate (thank goodness for spandex). My top had ruffle details going down the sleeves, and I really like this top because it’s so versatile and can be dressed up or down. In a previous post I show a more casual look with this top. I completed the outfit with a pair of nude fringe sandals that added some fun without being to busy.
I know it can be somewhat confusing about what you should wear to a bridal shower, so I’m going to share a few things I feel should not be worn when attending one. Me wearing white was an exception to the rule but normally I would say not to wear all white, nude shades or white with colorful prints would be fine. Red tends to say “look at me” so steer clear of this color because the day isn’t about you, it’s about your friend. Black is another no no it comes off as if were mourning instead of celebrating in my opinion, so I wouldn’t recommend it. Whether you wear a dress, skirt or pants stick with pretty light summer colors or prints and let the bride-to-be have the spotlight for the day.
