How To Wear Jeans To Work: 3 Professional Ways To Style Your Denim

If you haven’t noticed the workplace has changed over the years, and the idea of wearing jeans to work isn’t as farfetched as it once was.  Even at my former job it went from only wearing jeans on Friday to being able to wear them everyday, which was a win win for me!  Nowadays, jeans have become a more stylish staple in a person’s wardrobe setting the tone for the many options available at all price points.

Now that more office culture’s have embraced the casual workplace vibe when it pertains to workwear, it’s not uncommon to be able to wear jeans at work.  With this in mind you still have guidelines to follow, one being that you must remember that you’re dressing up your jeans, not dressing them down.  Don’t stroll into work with a pair of wrinkled sloppy I threw on any old pair of jeans, you need to incorporate a casual chic appearance, it still is work after all!  Here are 3 work tips and looks that will have you looking work – appropriate in your jeans.

  1. Pair with a blouse.

A blouse will pull your look together and is a great way to show you’re putting in an effort with your look.  I went with a peplum blouse which has a professional look that compliments your jeans.  If you go with a different style of blouse try tucking in the front portion for a edgier look.

    2.   Wear them with a dress and a blazer.

Nothing gives chic appeal like a perfectly – fitting blazer, and pairing it with a button down dress is especially true when you wear this look with denim.  Wearing a fitted dress topped off with a blazer instantly upgrades a pair of casual jeans.  It’s a great way to instantly jazz up your work look with a feminine touch without being to over the top.

   3.    Throw on a cardigan and a tee.

A cardigan is a perfect way to pull your casual work look together easily. Pair a light weight cardigan, a solid color tee, with a great necklace and you have a put together office appropriate look that’s not to laid back.   Try a pop of color to spruce up your work look without making it too loud.

To pull all of my looks together I paired them with heels.  This is the easiest way to quickly transform a pair of casual jeans into work worthy professional pants.  Opting for an open toe for the warmer months is a great choice, but you can never go wrong with a classic pump in black or nude.
